British Cycling is on the hunt for the next generation of ride leaders in Scunthorpe to help inspire more people in the area to get on their bikes and have fun.

For any passionate people who love cycling, British Cycling's free ride leadership award empowers and supports individuals to lead and deliver group bike rides.

Joel Lavery, National Partnerships Manager for British Cycling said: "2012 was a truly fantastic year for cycling, with Bradley Wiggins becoming the first British winner of the Tour de France, the success of Team GB cyclists at the Olympics and Paralympics and Sport England's announcement that 200,000 more people are now cycling more regularly than in 20111.

"All aspects of cycling are booming and that's why we're particularly excited to be bringing this ride leader course to Scunthorpe and meeting the inspirational people who'll be encouraging the local community to get on their bike and have fun.'

    “I really don't get why he's been given the title of 'Sir', when there are lots of people out there who deserve being knighted more than this chap. To my mind it 'cheapens' the accolade.”
