No international payment for United should Hooper receive England call
SCUNTHORPE United will not see any extra cash if former striker Gary Hooper receives an England call-up, the club have confirmed.
While a number of add-ons were included in the £2million transfer deal that took the player to Celtic last summer, international honours was not one of them.
-

THREE LIONS ROAR: Gary Hooper could be set for an England call-up.
Hooper has been a revelation since joining the Bhoys and has scored 13 goals in just 17 league appearances this term, helping to put the Glasgow giants on top of the SPL.
It's form which one national newspaper, The Times, yesterday claimed meant the 23-year-old was on the verge of being called into Fabio Capello's Three Lions squad for their friendly with Ghana at the end of the month.
Although the Iron will take pride from the progression of their former star, they will not receive any financial reward.
"There are a number of clauses in the transfer deal," explained United general manager David Beeby.
"They are based on his and Celtic's performances, like whether they qualify for the Champions League.
"But there is nothing relating to international honours."
At the beginning of February, Hooper was hopeful of playing for Scotland.
But he soon discovered he was ineligible to represent the Tartan Army because his Scottish grandmother's birth was actually registered in England.

“What constantly staggers me is the amount of 'supporters' (their term, not mine) who are happy to see the club sit on their hands and do NOTHING to attempt to tap in to any of the 148000 or so people who don't regularly go to the Brownsword Stadium. Why should the club bother to try to improve anything when there are so many of these 'supporters' only too happy to revel in mediocrity and a 'we can't do any better' mindset. Back the 1500-he speaks more sense than you lot will ever realise.”

“Lets rule half of them out though because they are supporters of other local clubs. Rule out half of that figure as those people are to infirm, more interested in fashion etc. Rule another 10,000 out for people being dragged to Tesco etc. Rule out another couple of thousand who go shopping in Manchester, Leeds, Doncaster etc (because shopping in town is fine if your budget is £1). Rule out another 8,000 who have family commitments or who work away etc. Rule out 2,500 students who live away from home during term time. Rule out another 5,000 who are to young to attend games. Rule out another 1,000 who prefer to moan about the club in various places rather than attend games. Rule out the season ticket holders who buy their tickets and fail to attend. Rule out say 1,000 who are unable to find transport to get to the game. Rule out 500 people who are to comatosed from the night before. Rule out say 500 who are on shift work etc. Rule out 1,000 we want Bara out and are staying away. Rule out 1,000 who can't afford the prices. Any I missed out? I reckon thats about 7,000 to chose from in our catchment!
There are lies, true lies and statistics.”

“'You didn't prove anything, except that the population of North Lincs is 152,000'...
What else were you asking Mr 1500club to prove McHammy?”

“Listen up - I know that the LAST REMAINING STANCION a happy clappers arsenal is this ludicrous addiction to quoting the population of Scunthorpe but the population of North Lincolnshire IS 152,000.
I'm from Barton - until ten years ago you never saw a Hull fan, it was al GY and United...Hull City targeted Barton for support ten years ago and now they are all over the place. To say that places like Barton should not be counted in a SUFC catchment area is exactly what I would expect from a short sighted, spoon faced simpleton like yourself.
152,000 people live within 30 miles of Scunny - Hull (for two seasons) apart, SUFC have smashed GY, Imp etc out of the water on the pitch but by not up'ing our our the pitch game, we have failed to capitalise on this success. If you want proof consider our attendences for NPC - it has been harder NOT attracting new support with our teams great performances.
Off you go mate - lets hear you weasil-like 'support' of United then?
Up the Iron!”

“You didn't prove anything, except that the population of North Lincs is 152,000. Just because Scunthorpe is in North Lincs doesn't mean that's their catchment area, It's a bit like saying Doncaster's is the whole of South Yorkshire.
Grimsby, Lincoln and even Hull all border N. Lincs, so will also have a catchment area within the county.
Barton for example have many fans from three clubs, Scunthorpe, Grimsby & Hull. The closest of course being Hull.
It's not very often you're right mate, but your wrong again.”

“1500 Club, you know the clappers dont like it when we point out the obvious. What really upsets me is that our beloved SUFC should not be in the position we are now, looking at the teams around us Derby,Palace ,ect with enough investment and ambition at the end of last year we would be mid table.Time for Wharton/board/club to come clean to fans about thier ambition for the future of our club and intentions regarding proper significant ground improvements. After this season the fans deserve to know if our club still values our support."UP THE IRON"!!!”

“He's right McHammy, you were squealing away in delight over your population stats yesterday - goading Mr 1500club that he was a liar etc but you disapeared when he produced the link. All he did was mention the population of North Lincs (152,000) and you went nuts!”

“McHammy - you spent all yesterday BLEATING over my 'population of 152,00' quip, calling me a liar blah blah blah....so how come you failed to find the back bone to reply when I posted the link to a 2001 census for North Lincs population? Must you follow 1500club around attempting to trip him up (usually over my belief that SUFC are more than capable of more),whilst embarrassing yourself via your own inabilities? Quite what you types get from telling everyone to pipe down is waaay off my cloud.
Chris - you might find this interesting mate...

...personally speaking, I am GUTTED that the excellent PODS venture has not been embraced by SUFC. It is a disgrace that we ended our early interest the moment the council rejected Whartons plot to lease off land miles from town. United should be part of this IMHO - back to our roots at Brumby Hall. I think this was our last chance of ever moving ground.
Up the Iron - keep up the banter but if you (McHammy) can't back up your blubbering, dont bother eh.
Up the Iron!”

“1500 Club - 'if you don't agree with something at least have the spine to argue your corner - telling someone to clears off is as useful etc'
Thats rich coming from you. If anyone's opinion differs to yours you either insult them or pathetrically try to make out they're stupid.”

“1500club, I'm going to take a leaf our of your book, show some back-bone and provide me critique against your previous statement.......surely a Solero in the sunshine is a good thing, much better than eating ice-cream in the winter, no? Forgive me ignorance but I thought the very point of frozen desserts is to cool down the consumer on a hot day?
Your retort please Sherlock. And feel free to be more specific about how to desire this banter.”
