“This is such a shame I am one of the full time staff there and it is not fair when the co-operative will soon be making sommerfields a co-operative - its not fair and its not right - so much for helping staff - all we were offered was 4 hour shifts - not worth the travel - maternity cover in winterton or 10 hours a week at sommerfields - this is no good when your used to working ful time - i stand to lose my home - not just my job now.
customers have wrote notes and letters to all the staff expressing how they feel abd i would just like to thank them all for there support - it didn't go unnoticed”

“Hang on a minute. High Street and George Street are dead already? You can almost count the retail offerings on one hand. The majority of the so called 'retail' circuit is taken up by junk food outlets, restaraunts and Health& Beauty salons:- None of which Tesco are directly competing with.
On top of that the shops that remain offer little by way of discount and choice to prevent one from going to Tesco anyway. Having lived in the area for over 30 years this has always been the case!”

“Soon there will be only one shop in barton - tescos and their master plan.
They undercut all the shops in barton , whilst all their other products that others dont stock are sky high, them taking over proudfoots was the worst thing that coul of happened to barton, sooner or later the high street and george street will be dead and when all the competition is gone they will just keep on hiking up the prices.”
