STUDENTS across the region are celebrating this morning after picking up their A-Level results.

And for the vast majority, there were big smiles of pride and relief after opening the all-important envelopes.

John Leggott College reported a 98 per cent pass rate, with more than 30 students achieving four A grades and 10 being awarded five at A*.

Acting principal, Ian Yems, said: "Yet again, the students have really pulled out the stops.

"We are particularly pleased with the A*s, which is a new venture this year."

It is also a successful year for Brigg Sixth Form, which has recorded a 99 per cent pass rate.

Director of sixth form, Nick Grafton, said he was very pleased with the achievements of students at the college.

And sixth formers at Baysgarth School, Barton-Upon-Humber, achieved record results, with pass rates of 97 per cent and the proportion of pupils sccoping A* to C grades at 68 per cent.

Head Colin Saywell said staff and students alike were "absolutely thrilled", he said: "It looks like they are our best results ever."
