THE Telegraph Slimmers have vowed to stay fit and healthy beyond the end of their weight-loss challenge.

The four ambassadors for the Scunthorpe Telegraph's summer slimming club have now completed all of their weekly weigh-ins, with the pounds continuing to fall off.

Karen Eagles, 48, of Scunthorpe, recorded a loss of 1lb in the last weigh-in, held at Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort.

She said: "I lost another pound so I have now lost two-and-a-half stone.

"I would have been happy to lose between one and two stone so I have lost more than I was going to."

And she said she had enjoyed the 13-week challenge.

"It has been pretty good," she said.

"It has set us out on a new way of looking at diet and exercise and we are definitely going to carry it on. I won't be giving in."

Karen's husband, James Eagles, 41, gained 2lbs in weight this week but was still happy at his progress throughout the challenge.

He said: "I have lost 21lbs in total. I am quite happy with that and it is more than I thought I would lose.

"It has been worth it because I am fitter than I used to be and I can run a lot further than I used to. I have got a new pair of trainers and I am going to be running outside the gym on three or four days a week."

Chris Scruton, 58, of Scunthorpe, lost 2lbs at the last weigh-in, while Wendy Corcoran, 34, of Scunthorpe shed 1lb.
