Cancer consultations hit target

Saturday, September 06, 2008, 07:00

SUSPECTED cancer patients were all seen by a specialist at Scunthorpe General Hospital within two weeks, it has been revealed.

Urgent referrals by doctors were all seen in the Government timeframe of 14 days, the latest Department of Health figures show.

Lisa Webster, a spokeswoman for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust (NLAG), praised the cancer teams for their hard work.

Mrs Webster said: "To be able to achieve these targets is testament to the hard work and dedication of all those staff across the trust's divisions who provide services for this group of patients, including administrative staff, clinicians and all others."

In the first quarter of this year, NLAG dealt with 1,377 urgent cancer referrals between April and June 2008.

Scunthorpe General Hospital was the first port of call for 554 of those patients, all of whom were seen by a specialist within the 14 day deadline.

Well done Tony Blair! You knew just when to resign as Prime Minister, leaving Gordon Brown in the mess you created. However, Brown is not without criticism. The next election I will vote for the Monster Raving Loony Party.
