Flowers mark spot where girl died

Tuesday, December 02, 2008, 07:00

'SLEEP tight our darling angel' was one of the moving tributes to a 12-year-old girl who died following a collision with a car.

Megan Rose Hennessey, from Burnham Road, Owston Ferry, who was described as a 'beautiful, happy and bubbly girl', died in an accident with a car on Thursday while she was crossing the road with her sister Sophie, who was also seriously injured.

The girls are understood to have been crossing the road at the junction of Alexandra Street and King Edward Road, Thorne, at about 4.15pm when the incident happened.

And the junction is now lined with brightly coloured sea of flowers, teddy bears and cards from family and friends wanting to pass on their messages of love.

One message from Aunty Nicky, Joel, Jake and Tom read: "What a tragic loss of life for a beautiful, happy, bubbly little girl who was so special and treasured by all who knew her. God bless, goodnight sweetheart."

A silver Peugeot 306 was involved in the incident last week. Megan died at the scene after suffering head and internal injuries.

Her sister, who went to the Doncaster Royal Infirmary with severe head and internal injuries, has since been transferred to the Sheffield Children's Hospital and is now described as being in a critical but stable condition.

The 18-year-old driver of the silver Peugeot 306 was arrested by South Yorkshire Police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed.

Well done Tony Blair! You knew just when to resign as Prime Minister, leaving Gordon Brown in the mess you created. However, Brown is not without criticism. The next election I will vote for the Monster Raving Loony Party.
