Iron president new High Sheriff
John Godfrey CBE, of Barnetby, was officially nominated for the role in one of the country's most historic services at the High Court in London.
The role will see Mr Godfrey welcome the Queen on royal visits to the area while looking after the county's High Court judges, and also taking part in anti-crime and financial initiatives.
Mr Godfrey said: "Many see this as a ceremonial role but I believe there is a lot that can be achieved through this position.
"I will be looking to bang a few heads together, and encourage members of the council, police, and probation service to communicate more for the good of the public.
"I can't wait to start, it's a big job as Lincolnshire is a very big county with a wide range of issues, but I'm greatly looking forward to it."
Mr Godfrey will replace current High Sheriff, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, in April, and serve a one-year term in the position.
The High Sheriff is the oldest secular office under the Crown, with the first High Sheriff of Lincolnshire recorded as Robert de Tatteshall in 1199.
