Man acquitted of sex assault on teen

Friday, November 21, 2008, 07:00

A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl was yesterday acquitted of the charge by a jury at Grimsby Crown Court.

Michael Fairhurst (31), of Legard Avenue, Ashby, was alleged to have groped the girl when she was babysitting at his home last December.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, alleged he touched her breast on the outside of her clothing but, when giving evidence, Mr Fairhurst denied the incident had taken place.

In response to questions from defending barrister Charlotte Eastwood, he said he had not wanted the girl in the house after previous problems.

Miss Eastwood asked him: "She admitted she had been inhaling deodorants didn't she?" Fairhurst said this was the situation.

"We didn't want her in the house ever again," he added.

But, on the night in question, Fairhurst returned home to find the girl talking to his partner in the kitchen of his address.

The girl alleged he then touched her breast, but Fairhurst said the only physical contact between them was when she jabbed him on the arm.

"I just jabbed her back and told her to get lost," he said.

Well done Tony Blair! You knew just when to resign as Prime Minister, leaving Gordon Brown in the mess you created. However, Brown is not without criticism. The next election I will vote for the Monster Raving Loony Party.
