Michael Jackson programme fetches £999
The 2001 Michael Jackson concert programme, signed by the King of Pop himself, went under the hammer on eBay yesterday after a 10-day auction to raise cash for the When You Wish Upon A Star children's charity.
The autographed programme, from the 2001 show 'Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration', was donated by David Gest, the ex-husband of Liza Minelli, who also signed the item, and it went on sale on October 29.
Since then the item was viewed by more than 1,150 potential bidders around the globe on the Internet auction site.
But the highest and winning bid was made by a woman from the UK who first set her sights on the item on October 31.
The money raised from the sale of the unique item will help grant the wishes of sick and terminally ill children throughout the region.
Joanne Wright, organiser of When You Wish Upon A Star, was thrilled with the final sale.
She said: "I think it's fantastic, a thousand pounds will make a big difference.
"I am sure the person who is getting the signed programme will be delighted. The money will make at least one very special wish come true, and may be more."
