Monday, October 06, 2008, 09:00

FENCING around the Albert Marson estate to reduce crime has moved a step closer.

Plans for specific alleyways to be closed off so trouble-makers cannot evade police are expected to be put to residents this month.

North Lincolnshire Council's deputy head of safer neighbourhoods Bruno Watson, said: "They have got some firm proposals now about which bits they want to be closed.

"What North Lincolnshire Homes will now try and do is firm up a date to ask people to discuss the proposal.

"We are letting them take charge now."

North Lincolnshire Homes' director of housing services Steve Hepworth said: "North Lincolnshire Homes has been working with Safer Neighbourhoods on ideas for fencing around the area.

"Both Safer Neighbourhoods and North Lincolnshire Homes have already done some consultations which support the idea of fencing, however we are considering the options and once these become clearer we will be doing some further consultations."
