New surgery to clear 5,000-strong NHS dental waiting list

Monday, September 08, 2008, 07:00

A NEW NHS dental surgery will allow the 5,000-strong waiting list to be ripped up.

North Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) hopes to have the new surgery open in Scunthorpe in June.

It will begin a consultation stage later this month before putting the contract out to tender.

A PCT spokesman said: "The new dental practice will remove the need for the PCT to continue maintaining a waiting list for people wishing to access NHS dental services within North Lincolnshire."

The surgery could then be included within a clinic in Crosby planned to open in about 2011.

Chris Huyton, chairman of the Local Dentistry Committee, believes a two or three man practice would be enough to satisfy everyone on the waiting list.

Well done Tony Blair! You knew just when to resign as Prime Minister, leaving Gordon Brown in the mess you created. However, Brown is not without criticism. The next election I will vote for the Monster Raving Loony Party.
