In driving seat for first time

Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 07:00

A PARTIALLY-sighted man from Scunthorpe has been raising money for guide dogs by driving round Donington Park race track.

Richard Lundy (57), of Chapel Court, Scunthorpe, helped the charity achieve a £12,000 boost at the fundraising day.

He was helped round the circuit by an instructor in a dual-controlled car.

Richard said: "I have never been in the driving seat before.

"If it had been a motorbike, I think I would have been scared, but it was pretty good actually.

"It was something I had never done before and I think it was quite an achievement.

"It's important to show that you are not afraid to do these things. I would do it again."
