The regional final of the competition, which promotes engineering in schools, was held at Corus in Scunthorpe.
Teams consist of between three and six youngsters, who work to prepare a business plan, develop a budget and raise sponsorship as well as designing and racing a car.
The Baysgarth Bullets won the title of Best Rookie and will go through to the national final, while a team from Brumby Engineering College picked up the Innovative Thinking award.
Baysgarth teacher Mike Allison said he hoped the success of this year's team would act as a springboard for future interest in the competition.
Chairman of Formula One in Schools Andrew Denford said: "It is a challenge aimed at trying to promote engineering in schools, using Formula One as a vehicle for it.
"We are trying to get kids interested in engineering and manufacturing as a career and we are bringing all the disciplines of Formula One into the classroom."
