Wind farm campaigners to have a voice

'WE CARE': Save Eastoft campaigners met with Brigg and Goole MP Ian Cawsey.

SAVE Eastoft Campaigners will start to draft a submission to be presented to a summit of senior people from core agencies who are working to devise a suitable route for construction traffic for the Keadby windfarm.

Save Eastoft campaigners have already met with Brigg and Goole MP Ian Cawsey to discuss their position - ahead of the private meeting to be scheduled next month.

At the meeting with Mr Cawsey, Save Eastoft Campaigners expressed their concerns that the meeting was not a public one, and in a bid to be heard, they asked Mr Cawsey to present a submission to the team on their behalf.

Campaigner Steve Brown, said: "It's very good that we can make this submission but it depends on the outcome of the meeting as to what we feel about it.

"Between eight and 10 of us meet regularly and we will work together to draft the submission.

"We haven't started it yet but as residents we should have every right to tell the summit what we want, and, we are the ones who care, because we live here.

"As responsible citizens we say green issues should be first priority.

"We have a number of other concerns but Mr Cawsey has assured us he will not be compromising on the proper A18 route, he will be making the case for green priorities and he will introduce a submission from our campaign to the summit."

As reported, developer RES Ltd has pledged to keep traffic out of villages in the north of the Isle.

The planning approval has a condition requiring this, but RES has been looking at alternative routes, citing difficulties getting agreements with the various agencies concerned.

Mr Cawsey is convening a meeting with the agencies and RES to broker an agreement that would see construction traffic access the site directly from the A18 near to the junction of the M180.
