Work to close main Isle road

Saturday, September 06, 2008, 07:00

ROAD works will see Haxey Lane closed for during two weekends in October.

Haxey Lane, part of the A161 from Epworth to Gainsborough, will close along a 500 metre stretch north from the Graiselound cross roads on the weekends of October 4 and 5 and October 25 and 26.

Work on the road will last for three months, with temporary traffic lights in place for the rest of the time.

The work will improve the road surface and boost drainage in the area.

Ron Allcock, the chairman of Haxey Parish Council, said the work did need doing.

He said: "The parish council have been pestering North Lincolnshire Council for some time to do the work.

"It really desperately needs doing."

While the road is closed, a diversion will be placed along the A161, A18, A164, B1396 and Akeferry Road for traffic travelling south.

The route will operate in reverse for vehicles driving north.

The diversion will not effect Haxey residents, buses or emergency services.

North Lincolnshire Council said any further road closures needed to complete the work would be announced as necessary.

Well done Tony Blair! You knew just when to resign as Prime Minister, leaving Gordon Brown in the mess you created. However, Brown is not without criticism. The next election I will vote for the Monster Raving Loony Party.
