'Parking provision will be adequate for Baths'

EXTRA visitor parking for Scunthorpe's new Baths Hall venue will not be provided in the plans.

North Lincolnshire Council decided the spaces in nearby public car parks will be enough for people attending events at the £15-million state-of-the-art centre.

Designs for the 2,000-capacity hall were exclusively revealed in the Scunthorpe Telegraph yesterday and a public consultation got under way today with neighbouring businesses asked to give their views.

At the Royal Hotel on Doncaster Road, council chiefs told neighbours they would not suffer hundreds of cars parking and leaving after events as nearby car parks will handle the demand for spaces.

Leader of the council, Coun Mark Kirk, said: "We are designing it in such a way that it will minimise the impact on local residents.

"We have been round lots of places and developed the ideas from the problems they have encountered."
