More people seeking jobs in Scunthorpe and district as unemployment rises

UNEMPLOYMENT levels in the region have risen slightly, according to new figures.

Data released by the Office for National Statistics shows 4,934 people were claiming the Jobseekers' Allowance benefit in North Lincolnshire in January this year.

This represents a rise of 326 from the December 2012 figure of 4,608, although the percentage figure of 4.7 is below the regional average.

The figure is, however, still above the national average of 3.9 per cent.
