With more fun than the X Factor and more undiscovered stars than Britain's Got Talent, the Scunthorpe Telegraph's Pub Idol is ready to take North Lincolnshire by storm.
For the second year in a row, the quest to seek out an act worthy of the Idol crown is on, and this time the competition is wider than ever before.
The chance of scooping a cash prize and the opportunity to perform in packed out venues is now open to musical duos as well as solo performers.
Last year only individuals were permitted to take part, but due to demand, groups of two are now in with a fighting chance.
Compere Caroline Whelpton, the Scunthorpe Telegraph's retail and leisure manager, is to MC the event for the second time. She said she was very excited about heading up Pub Idol and was hoping for a variety of talented vocalists.
She said: "If last year's competition is anything to go by, we should hear some fantastic singers competing again.
"It was great so many people came along and supported those who took part, which provided a great atmosphere throughout the competition."
Pub Idol 2007 saw 150 singers, from North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, sing their hearts out in a battle to be named the best.
Winner Ashleigh Howard stunned judges with her rendition of American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson's Since You've Been Gone and Georgia on My Mind, walking away with the £1,000 prize money.
This time, there will be separate categories for this area and North East Lincolnshire, each with a prize fund of £500.
Again the competition is open to amateur, professional and semi-professional acts, all over the age of 18.
Pub Idol 2008, kicks off on Monday, July 21, at The Black Beauty, Scunthorpe.
