How can we get rid of pothole problems in North Lincolnshire ?
WHAT can be done to eliminate potholes in our roads? Let's look at this problem realistically.
It is obvious that the method of construction of the road surface is no longer strong enough to cope with the exceedingly heavy vehicles and the thousands of cars, vans and others which incessantly drive on it every day. It's no use blaming the council or government for not putting more and more money in to fill the potholes, with the heavy load it has to bear, the road will continue to "come apart at the seems".

A pothole in Brigg - since repaired
We had winters almost as harsh as 2010 when I was younger so you can't blame the weather alone, it has only made the potholes worse.
The powers-that-be will have to come up with a new material or method of construction, the one used today was worked out by John McAdam (1756-1836). He invented Tarmac which has served us very well until recently.

We have TV, newspapers and magazines all praising the amazing achievements of world famous scientists who spend millions of pounds and dollars probing into other planets and space (on which they could never survive). Why can't those brilliant brains start taking a pride in the planet they live on and invent a road surface that could stand up to today's traffic needs?
Councils all over the country are paying out thousands of pounds to inadequately repair potholes, which are causing so many problems.

“Where did I recently see a new large infra red heater to heat the road, cut the hole to a square, dry the road with the heater, coat hole with tar and fill while road is still hot then roll. If they just keep dropping tarmac in pothole it will keep coming out.”
