The band, which has been active for 19 years, is the only tribute act to have shared a stage with Jon Bon Jovi himself.

Tony Pearce, who takes on the role of his hero as lead vocalist with the band, said fans could expect a realistic Bon Jovi show.

He said: "If you are a Bon Jovi fan, you will get everything you normally get from a Bon Jovi show, without the massive price tag that is attached to it.

"You get the looks, the sounds and the audience participation and you get to meet the band at the end of the night as well."

Tony bears a striking resemblance to Jon Bon Jovi.

And he said: "It is not just myself, I have got a drummer, bass player, keyboard player and a guitarist who all look like the people they are supposed to be."

Tony said the Scunthorpe show would include the band's hits, plus a selection of other tracks.

He said: "We do chop and change but we try to keep most of the mainstream stuff in.

"You can only change the set around so much and Jon could play Baa Baa Black Sheep on stage but I wouldn't get away with it.

"We play Livin' On A Prayer, It's My Life, Always and You Give Love A Bad Name.

"We do put the odd album track in there but it is mostly the main stuff.

"Part of the show is to ask if we have a new-school or an old-school crowd and mostly the old-school outweighs the new."

Being in the band is a full-time job for Tony, who also looks after its administration affairs when off-stage.

He said: "When I first started, there were no tribute bands as such.

"There were Elvis tributes but the tribute band phenomenon was non-existent. It was called By Jovi to start with and after a few band changes, we changed the name to The Bon Jovi Experience.

"It has gone from strength to strength since then."

An official endorsement for the band came in 2006, when they were invited to perform with Jon Bon Jovi at the Hard Rock Cafe in London.

Tony said: "We are the only Bon Jovi tribute band to do that and according to what he said, we will be the only one ever to do that.

"It was an honour and he is a really nice guy to boot."

The Bon Jovi Experience will perform at the Plowright Theatre on Sunday, November 4 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £17.50 each and can be booked on 0844 854 2776 or at www.scunthorpetheatres.co.uk
