RESIDENTS can have their say on a document that could shape the future of the region for the next 16 years.

A public consultation on the Core Strategy section of the North Lincolnshire Local Development Frame- work opened yesterday.

The document, drawn up by North Lincolnshire Council, sets out the long-term planning policies for the region.

It can be viewed at Pittwood House or at local links and libraries and anyone wishing to make a comment on it can pick up a form at these places.

Councillor Mick Grant, the council's cabinet member for housing and strategic planning, said: "This is your last opportunity to make comments on this crucial document that will help shape North Lincolnshire over the next 16 years.

"It covers everything from creating jobs and homes to improving transport links and revitalising towns.

"I urge everyone interested in North Lincolnshire's future to read the document and give us your feedback."

The consultation period runs until Monday, July 5, and all comments must be made by 5pm on that date.

Responses will then be sent with other background material and evidence to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.

An independent examination of the strategy is then expected to happen in December, with a final adoption set for summer next year.

“Your comments will be taken on board only if they fit with our collectivist vision of what we know is best for you. We have also omitted a few details that need not concern you. You will learn to love Big Brother.”
