Go behind the scenes at tour start
SPECTATORS will be able to get up close and personal with some of the world's top cyclists ahead of the Tour of Britain.
Visitors to Scunthorpe's Central Park can go behind the scenes of the race from 9am to 9.30am tomorrow as the 96 competitors warm up and prepare their bikes for the race.

From 9.15am, all of the riders will be presented to the crowd at the signing on ceremony atop a giant podium.
Team GB stars Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas will be among the riders preparing for the race, plus the UK road race champion Kristian House.
Top cyclists from across the continent will also be gearing up to take part in the race, which will set off from the park at about 10am.
Cllr Mick Grant, who has helped bring the race to North Lincolnshire, said the access was a real coup for fans.
He said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes of Britain's biggest cycle race and see top international cyclists preparing for the opening stage.
"I would encourage everyone to come along and see what goes on in preparation for such a large sporting event.
"Whether you're a top class cyclist in the making, a sports enthusiast or are simply interested in what's involved, I am sure this back stage look will not disappoint."

“Jack, my point was its amazing how they can get something done that they are interested in, CYCLING in this case. Its a shame, for instance, that they couldn't provide toilets in Central Park, for families with small children especially in summer, for the past few years. But because one of them is interested in cycling all the stops are pulled out, and a lot of money wasted, to hold this "event". I would rather see investment in the town for the long term and for everyone, not just some fat councillors selfish whim .
Still, they are also going to be spending over 50 million on a sports hall and a nightclub, so you should be happy, especially when your rates go up again !”

“JC stop whinging. You complain when the roads are full of potholes etc so when they are repaired you still complain. What do you think will happengoing after the cycle race? Council will go over the newly repaired roads with diggers and sledge hammers and put them back how they were. Liven up a bit you dull, whinging git.”

“Amazing what cllrs can get done if they have an "interest" in something, M Grants hobby of cycling has already knocked 1k off peoples houses on Messingham Rd, I wonder if we will ever know what all this has cost the taxpayer, I doubt it !
We haven't had toilets at Cenny Pk for years, I bet theres some there tonight . They can get on with digging up Cenny Pk once they dont need it.”
