Have you seen power cable thieves in action in North Lincolnshire?
The theft of a number of heavy duty electrical power cables in rural North Lincolnshire has led to neighbourhood police officers asking for the public to be vigilant of thieves operating in the area.
The latest incidents occurred over night on Wednesday, October 10 in the West Halton and Winterton areas. In total, there have been eight reported cases of high-value overhead power cables being stolen in North Lincolnshire since August 1.

The recent spate of thefts follow a national trend which has seen offenders using ladders and even cherry pickers to reach the cables before using tools to remove them.
A spokesman for police in North Lincolnshire said: "The thefts are thought to have taken place between 3am and 8.30am and on each occasion the suspects have made off with a good quantity of cable which will cost a lot to replace.

"The result being a number of power cuts and also damage being caused to properties due to surges when the cables were cut while still live which is dangerous for both residents in the affected areas and also the thieves themselves.
"Those responsible are seemingly well equipped which follows the current national trend in which the suspects are known to have used white vans with cherry pickers in order to reach the cables and remove what they want.
“On the face of it this may help them blend in a little and go unnoticed however we would urge residents to always be vigilant as genuine work on power cables is unlikely to be carried out during the early hours unless there is an emergency which needs addressing by the power company who will no doubt attend with branded vehicles at least.
"Investigations are well underway into these thefts and we are working with associated power companies in order to try and identify those responsible. It is likely that they are carrying out similar offences across the area and maybe further afield so it is important that North Lincolnshire residents remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity right away."
