Bamber talks Law And Order

Actor Jamie Bamber thinks it's "empowering" for British TV to be remaking the American television series Law And Order.

The 35-year-old, who will star in the British version of the show, said: "This is something that the Americans have done forever to British shows - they buy the concept. Coupling or The Office or Life On Mars and then they remake it in their own image.

"We've never had the chance to do the same thing back at them and I think it is very empowering for British TV to be in that position."

The Battleship Galactica star said the show would feel very British, even though the concept was American.

He said: "It will feel like a British show in the dialogue and in the context. You won't be able to tell that this is a show that originated in America other than the values and it will feel slick in a way that British TV often doesn't achieve."

But he is not sure how UK audiences will receive the British version, saying: "I honestly don't know how the UK is going to receive it because Law And Order doesn't have any soap operatic elements at all which UK TV tends to rely on.

"It's just whether the public want to tune into that rather than EastEnders which they are sort of addicted to for some reason."

Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 is out on DVD October 6 courtesy of Universal Playback.

Regarding the smoking ban, when you go out and go back home you no longer smell like an ashtray. Passive smoking kills. Period.
