Role Models premieres in LA

Thursday, October 23, 2008, 11:05

Seann William Scott tried his best to lead by example at the Los Angeles premiere of Role Models.

In the absence of his co-star Paul Rudd - who wasn't there due to an illness in the family - it was down to the American Pie actor to tell reporters all about the new comedy.

But Seann confessed he wasn't the best person to talk about being a real-life role model, saying: "Paul's like, a great father, I don't have any kids that I know of, well I hope I don't have any!"

He added: "My nephew is kind of like my little brother or my little son. I take care of him, but then I do make him watch a lot of R-rated comedies when my brother isn't around."

The actor admitted the people that look up to him tend to be slightly off the rails, saying: "I think I'm like the mascot for the frat guy. I think they look up to me to share shots."

Superbad's McLovin, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, was also at the screening. He plays a geek who is mentored by Paul's character, but Christopher revealed he also learned a lot off camera.

"I learned a lot of acting tips from them because Rudd, you've seen his career and he's done serious movies and comedies, I just kind of learned how to be realistic in your character and that was really important for me," he said.

Role Models - directed by David Wain - follows two salesmen (Seann and Paul) who are ordered to spend 150 hours in a mentorship programme after trashing a company truck.
