More time for scrutiny
CLLR Mick Grant's given just over a month for public consultation regarding the Core Strategy section of the Local Development Framework document, something most people won't have heard of and which in the councillor's own words is "perhaps the council's key document in shaping the area's future over the next 15 years".
The reality is this is a wish list based on promised funding from the previous Government, which by its own admittance through one of its departing ministers, declared: "There's no money left."
Cllr Grant says this consultation represents the last chance for people to influence the content of the Core Strategy. Why the rush councillor? You've worked on it since 2006. Surely such a vital document in its last stages of completion should be worthy, if anything, of a longer period of public scrutiny.
