SCUNTHORPE residents are being offered advice on how to cut the cost of their water bill.

Simon Mullan, customer relations manager at Severn Trent Water, said: "Most people don't realise that making some simple changes to the amount of water they use can save money on water bills if they are on a meter. Although, regardless of whether you're on a meter on not, saving water will save you money on energy bills.

"Also gardens can be thirsting places so investing in a water butt means you can collect free rainwater over the next few months and then use it during the dryer months to water your garden."
