Teams make cautious start to new season

THE SIX divisions of the Scunthorpe Rileys Tuesday Pool League got off to a cautious start with 15 of the 36 games played being decided by a single frame.

But second division title favourites Poacher A opened with a bang after white-washing Desert Rat A.

It was a good night for the Poacher, with their second string taking pole position in division six following their 7-3 win against an under-strength Desert Rat C.

Division one champions Cundy Phoenix started the defence of their crown with a 6-3 win against Malt Shovel.
