EAST YORKS: Four East Riding schemes have been confirmed as winners in a scheme to boost commerce.

North Bar Traders Association in Beverley, Bridlington Town Improvement Forum, Business in Goole and the town council-led Market Weighton Town team are all now Town Team Partners.

It follows their applications to a major funding project led by Government shops tsar Mary Portas.

None were initially succe- ssful but all can now get a £10,000 grant and a support package to put their regen- eration plans into action.

The Association of Town Centre Management's pack- age has been put together with the help of retail experts and town teams from across the country.

Councillor Jane Evison, East Riding Council's portfolio holder for economic development, said: "Although tailored to promote very different and diverse town economies, all the bids are focused on the need for town centre businesses, landlords and property owners to work together and make progress to support and re-energise town centres."
