We want daily train service to Brigg and Kirton Lindsey that's fit for the 21st century
We are now coming up to 20 years since the "Brigg Line " (Sheffield Midland – Gainsborough Central – Kirton Lindsey – Brigg – Cleethorpes) lost its Monday to Friday rail service.
This has left the line with the farce which is a "Saturday only" service of three trains to/from Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes.
As the chairman of a large Peterborough United supporters' group that has fans all over Lincolnshire, the feedback we get from fans is that Lincolnshire is bad at the best of times for rail travel, fans in this area pointing out bluntly that it is rather stupid that they are restricted in only being allowed to travel on the train on this line on a Saturday only.
After making enquires we have found out that the Brigg line services will be under scrutiny by the Department For Transport when the Northern Rail franchise is up in 2014.

I hope I have full support from all rail passengers in the area, and that banging the drum again will lead to Brigg station and the Brigg line having some sort of Monday – Saturday rail service fit for the 21st century - Paul Johnson, Chairman, South Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Peterborough United Supporters' Group
