I want to walk for Christmas
A LITTLE girl has one simple wish this Christmas – to be able to walk.
Scarlett Rose Neal (two), will not just be getting the latest toys and games delivered to her next month.
Instead, she wants to put operations and numerous pots on her legs behind her and be able to get herself around this festive season.
Scarlett was born with a talipes foot, meaning one of her feet was permanently turned inwards.
But after undergoing surgery shortly before her second birthday in July, Scarlett is now looking forward to a first Christmas on foot.
Scarlett is one of the hundreds of children from all over North Lincolnshire who have entered the Scunthorpe Telegraph's Christmas Wishes competition.
A special supplement will be in Tuesday's paper with all the cute youngsters and their wishes.
Scarlett's grandmother, June Toyne (63), of Charterhouse Drive, Bottesford, said: "From more or less being six weeks old, she has had to wear plaster casts and had to sleep in a little pair of boots.
"That went on for almost two years and then in June this year, she had operations on both legs at the back to strengthen the tendons."
"Those casts gradually got the foot moving outwards again."
