SCUNTHORPE Men played a home match against Skegness in the Lincolnshire County Men's League looking to sign off for the festive period with a good win.

A determined home team strode into an early overall lead of 34 shots to 16 and continued to play with confidence, extending that to 55-37 by the halfway point.

Displaying some quality play, Scunthorpe maintained the pressure on their opponents and increased their advantage to 79-56.

After an excellent display of bowling by the whole team, the final result was an impressive 16 points to two win (99-80 shots) for Scunthorpe, securing wins on four out of the five rinks.

The Scunthorpe rink of Alan Trown, John Rayner, Warwick Wooldridge and John Hopkinson won 23-15; Steven Carr, Norman Anderson, Dennis Rhodes and Graham Teal triumphed 20-12; Vinny Bolton, Tony Hebblewhite, Rob Skinner and Paul Grimbleby won 21-16 shots; Ian Pringle, Len Lammas, Adam Rhodes and Jim Davidson had the edge 19-18 and Gordon Bissett, James Staples, Neil Rowe and Steve Burton lost 19-16.
