Smone Butterworth would like to become Humberside's first police and crime commissioner
The role is set to effectively replace the current Humberside Police Authority.
Ms Butterworth, pictured above, said: "I am standing in this election because people in the Humberside force area deserve a progressive alternative to the choices on offer. I believe policing should be fair and independent, there should be no political interference in operational policing.

"Policing should also respond to the needs of local communities. It is not up to politicians to impose their views. At a time when there is precious little money to go round, every available penny should be spent on frontline policing."
Elections will take place on Thursday, November 15.
